The Rhythm Of God’s Rule

“…seek first the kingdom of God…” – Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

In a world where our calendars are full, and our souls are empty, we often mistake busyness for purpose. Deadlines, school activities, ministry commitments, medical appointments — our lives become a frantic orchestra, each obligation playing its own tune. Without noticing, we find ourselves marching to the devil’s symphony: busy, distracted, wounded…and not winning.

But Scripture calls us back to a different rhythm — the rhythm of God’s rule.

Jesus’ instruction in Matthew 6:33 echoes through our crowded lives: “…seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” This is not a suggestion. It is an invitation to reorder our lives around God’s authority, not our anxieties. Worry is unnecessary, unproductive, and unworthy of God’s children (Matthew 6:26-30; 6:27; Romans 8:15-16). We hustle as though we are alone, but the Father Who clothes the lilies promises to care for us.

Testimony

I once attended a six-month Christian financial course where we sealed our worries in envelopes. I listed six concerns, including health, family, university fees, and my husband’s job — but none manifested. God provided in every area, proving that our faith and testimony are the antidotes to worry. What impacted me most was a man who submitted a blank sheet, refusing to entertain worry at all. That unwavering trust is the mindset God desires for us today. To operate under God’s rule, not the tyranny of busyness, we must return to Kingdom living.

Here are three pillars of kingdom focus:

  1. Set God first — not in sequence but in supreme authority. What do you do with your first five minutes of the day?.
  2. Set the frequency of your testimony – as this shifts from worry to clarity of God’s promises (Matthew 6:27).
  3. Surrender decisions to God’s will – How do you practise listening to God’s voice? Can you evidence that He alone is shaping your daily priorities and to-do list?

Today, quiet the noise. Step out of the devil’s symphony. Let God’s kingdom set the tempo of your life — steady, peaceful, victorious.

Make a list of three worries and write down what actions will shift them into a testimony. God wants to set the rhythm for your victory!
