“…Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child…” — 1 Samuel 2:18 (NKJV)
Samuel was not born into greatness. He was an ordinary boy from a humble family, dedicated to God by his mother, Hannah. What transformed his life was not status or education — it was his posture in God’s presence. Kathryn Kuhlman once said, “God is not looking for golden vessels….He is looking for yielded vessels.” Samuel was exactly that — a yielded vessel.
Before Samuel ever prophesied, he spent time in worship, prayer, and simple obedience. Extraordinary lives are birthed in private devotion, not public platforms.
Samuel grew up under the covering of Eli, the priest. Though Eli was imperfect, Samuel remained in God’s house and His presence, strictly following His precepts. Your spiritual environment shapes your destiny.
In 1 Samuel 3, Samuel heard God’s voice. One encounter turned an ordinary servant into a national prophet. Scripture says, “The Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.” (1 Samuel 3:19 – NKJV).
Education and study are important. They are useful tools that can shape your life. But the true source of transformation is time in God’s presence. His favour, protection, and power rest on those who seek Him. It is His presence that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. Spend quality time with Him. Remain under His covering. Yield yourself to His voice. One encounter with God can shift your entire destiny.
Prayer
Lord, I yield myself like Samuel. I value knowledge, but I desire Your presence above all. Transform my ordinary life and do extraordinary things through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
