The Source of all Blessings – Part 2

“…Your blessing is upon Your people…” – Psalm 3:8 (NKJV)

One Greek word that makes plain the meaning of “blessings” that we may be familiar with is Eulogia/Eulogies, i.e., ‘to speak well of’. God speaks well of us once we walk in His righteousness, and we, in turn, bless Him. The blessing (grace or benison) covers us or resurfaces our being. It is a gift or favour bestowed upon us – to prosper or be fully satisfied regardless of the circumstances.

Another Greek word is “Makarios” – ‘to be blessed’. Brethren, we are privileged or fortunate to serve a blessed God (1 Timothy 1:11; 6:15) Who bestows His blessings unconditionally.  We also have the Hebrew word “Baruch” (Blessed), i.e., bringing God into every moment or the reality of God in every situation, whether good or bad. In the bad, seeing the future good.

Romans 8:28 states that all things work together for our good, explaining that we must have a mindset for seeing not only the bad but also the good in every situation. So bless God anyhow, for when we bless Him, it gives Him the opportunity to intervene in our circumstances and situations. It gives Him an opportunity to bless us.

Jeremiah 45:2-5 provides an analogy in the prophetic word to ‘Baruch’ (a popular Hebrew boy’s name), that despite the turmoil and troubles meted out to those around him by God, He, God, will keep him safe wherever he goes. God’s promise is the same for every believer – “I will be with you always” (Matthew 28:20). He will neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4), neither will He forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

There is totality in the Kingdom of God. He is the all-sufficient God. We have no need to exit the kingdom of God to acquire anything. He is our Yahweh (becoming to each of us what He must in order to meet our needs). He is our “I Am.” We only need to look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As believers, our source is God.
