The Way

The Way

John 14:6 (NKJV)

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  –  John 14:6 (NKJV)

Musician Phil Wickham wrote a powerful worship song, “The Jesus Way”. The first two stanzas  proclaim:

“If you curse me, then I will bless you

If you hurt me, I will forgive

And if you hate me, then I will love you

I choose the Jesus way.

If you’re helpless, I will defend you

And if you’re burdened, I’ll share the weight

And if you’re helpless, then let me show you

There is hope in the Jesus way”

We live in a generation that is easily deceived by humanistic philosophies and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1). Some believe there are many ways to God, some believe God doesn’t exist, and others believe they are God. As we journey on this earth, we will encounter individuals who are convinced by such philosophies and doctrines. Nevertheless, we must be assured from a theological standpoint there is no other way to the Father except through Christ alone! Jesus made this very clear when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life”.

The word “way” is a biblical metaphor for a path, while early Christianity was actually called “the Way” (Acts 9:2). As a little boy, I constantly asked my grandmother whether Jesus is real. I can recollect asking her if Jesus could come down and show Himself to us. My friends, it is imperative that we understand that Jesus is real and that one day we will meet Him (1 Thessalonians 4:17), even when our culture frowns and mocks our belief. Let us not be weary in well doing; let us not lose the urgency to meet our Master.

Maybe you are questioning whether God is real because of the constant trials and tribulations. Remember, we are encouraged to rejoice in the midst of trials (1 Peter 4:12-13). The first-century church experienced constant persecution, but they walked in ‘the Way’. Don’t ‘throw in the towel’; fight the good fight of faith!

I once had an encounter with hell. I knew it was hell because I heard people screaming, and I heard a demonic voice calling my name. I woke up with fear and urgency to repent and to choose the Jesus way. Backslider, come back home. Return to your first love, repent, and let the Lord restore you. Today, choose the Jesus Way.

In Jesus, we are guaranteed eternal and abundant life. In Jesus, we can bless those who curse us, and we will be the voice to tell others. The appearance of Jesus will be soon. Let’s prepare our hearts and choose the ‘Jesus Way’.

Prayer

Lord, forgive me of my sins. I forsake strange philosophies and doctrines, and I am asking You to restore me so that I can walk in Your way all the days of my life. Touch me and outpour Your power on my life, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
