“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.” – Titus 2:11 (NKJV)

In the book of Titus 2:11-15, there are three aspects of the redemptive work of Christ. We will look at verse 11.

The Apostle Paul gives us the first aspect: “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.” Is Apostle Paul saying that all people are saved? Is he saying that all people are going to heaven? I can tell you that is not what the Apostle is preaching. As a matter of fact, the Bible teaches us few will enter into glory. Apostle Paul is not trying to introduce some kind of universal salvation because we wouldn’t need a Saviour if that was the reality. The Greek word says that the saving Grace of God was ‘manifested’ to all men. It doesn’t include the verb ‘bring’.

God did His redemptive work in public. He did this so the whole world would see. This includes all religions. Nothing was done in secret. So, brothers and sisters, your righteous living should be in public. Do not call Jesus in your heart but do not live Him in your public life. The same verse 11 says grace called us to repentance and righteous living.

Friends, repentance is a change of mind and heart that leads to a change of living. It always results in a change of living. A change of mind and a change of heart that doesn’t lead to repentance is called remorse, which makes you feel bad about yourself or something you did. God is not so interested in our remorse, however necessary it is, since it only gets us halfway and not to the finish line. He wants us to repent, stop sinning, and begin following Him.

Move on and follow the Good Shepherd, brethren; that’s our first work in living a righteous life.
