There is Power in the Blood of Jesus
“…and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” – Hebrews 9:22 (NIV)
Biblical redemption centres on God. Our God is the ultimate Redeemer of saving His chosen people from all sin, evil bondage, and death. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace – Romans 3:23-24 (NIV).
Redemption refers supremely to the work of Christ on our behalf, whereby He (Jesus) purchased and ransomed us at the cost of His own life, securing our deliverance from bondage and condemnation of sin and death. The quality of this act of redemption leads to freedom from the consequences of sin and evil through the power of Jesus Christ. It can restore us to the status we had with God before.
Friends, God so loves the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). It is the promise of God’s redemption plan for the world to defeat the enemy of God and to set His children free. Genesis 3:15 – NIV says, I will put enmity (conflict) between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Clearly, we must be redeemed from this conflict.
To be redeemed by God is to believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, buried, and resurrected to demonstrate God’s love for all humanity. This hope drives believers to love like Jesus and live a right relationship with God and each other. The chief effects of redemption are the satisfaction of God’s justice by Christ’s suffering and death and the gaining of grace for men. We are now citizens of God’s kingdom and adopted into His family.
By the blood of Jesus, I am now redeemed and restored and part of God’s family.
