There is Purpose in Your Pain

There is Purpose in Your Pain

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

You may encounter many things in this journey called life that you cannot avoid, and one such encounter is to experience pain.

What is Pain? The lexicon defines pain as great care or trouble. Agony. Suffering. Affliction. Hurt.

Now, have you ever felt pain? Whether it was physical or emotional, I’m sure we all have had our fair share. To feel pain is to experience discomfort. Our Lord Jesus Christ endured the pain of the cross, all for our sins. In Isaiah 53:5, we are reminded that “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities”.

When I received word that my mother fell ill, I felt severe (emotional) pain. I prayed for her healing. In fact, I fasted for the entire sixteen days she was hospitalised because I wanted a miracle, but she still died. I asked God, why? You see, the vicissitudes of life can either break us or make us.

The ensuing days until her burial were the hardest for me. I am sure you will agree that losing a loved one is not easy. I had to conclude with time, of course, that since I do not believe in an untimely death, that was her time. In that season of my life, though difficult it was, a powerful prayer life was birthed in me. Know that whenever we encounter challenges, it’s an opportunity to grow.

I have concluded that there is purpose in your pain. PAIN GROWS YOU. You must know that God is always on the side of the sufferer. Psalm 147:3 (NIV) says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” He is capable of restoring broken pieces together. Praise the name of the Lord!
