Touching The Master Activates Faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

‘Now’ faith is, trusting in God in all circumstances, which enables the believer to persevere and remain steadfastly loyal to God, and His Word at all times. It’s a faith that believes in spiritual realities that lead to righteousness and breakthroughs. For example, a woman was bleeding for years when she heard a man called Jesus was passing (Mark 5:25-34). She was so uncomfortable in her situation that she said, “…If only I could touch his clothes”. She believed that if she got near, her faith would come alive. She could have stayed home claiming she was unclean, she could have said the crowd was too much, or even said let Him come to her. No, she pressed through.

In life, we have to press through difficult times and situations and touch the Master. Many times Jesus touched people, but this time someone touched Him, and “Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed… – Mark 5:29 (NKJV). It was the contact and presence of Jesus that mattered. His touch has healing powers because He sympathises with our weaknesses. He is the source of life and grace.

Our responsibility in seeking healing is to draw near to Jesus and to live in His presence. This is faith as a believer. Many times we doubt God by our actions or the way we act. For example, God said that by His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 58:5), but we have to obey His Word – eat right, talk right, and live right. Live His Word.

The more intimate our life in Christ is through prayer, fasting, worship, meditation, and studying the Scriptures, the more our faith comes alive. Then we can truly say, like the woman in Mark 5, that touching the Master activates our faith.

Dear God and Father, It’s not by might nor by Power but by Your spirit. I thank You for everyone reading that as they trust You and read Your Word, their faith will come alive to do the extraordinary, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
