For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God; you may receive the promise – Hebrews 10:36 (KNJV)
What do you expect from the day ahead?
Are you expecting God to do wonderful things or are you living beneath a cloud of apprehension and doubt? The familiar words of Psalm 118:24 remind us of a profound yet simple truth. “This is the day which the LORD hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (KJV).
For Christian believers, everything begins and ends with God’s Son and God’s promises. When we accept Christ into our hearts, God promises the opportunity for earthly and spiritual abundance but more importantly, however, God promises us the priceless gift of eternal life. As we face the inevitable challenges of life here on Earth, we must arm ourselves with the promises of God’s Holy Word. When we do, we can expect the best, not only for the day ahead but also for all eternity.
The promises of God are sureties and not more pious or sanctified guesses. They are more than sentimental words to be printed on decorated cards for Sunday School children only. They are eternal verities. They are true. There is no ‘perhaps’ about them and they are available for all to benefit from.
A God wise enough to create me and the world I live in is wise enough to watch out for me. He will fulfill every promise made. Our job is to trust His promises and live in obedience to His Word. The prophet Jeremiah speaking on behalf of God said, “Then you will call upon Me, and go and pray to Me and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:12 (NKJV). Are you listening to God? Have you called upon Him yet?
Jesus said, “So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” – Luke 11:9-10 (NKJV).
Prayer
Lord, your Holy Word contains promises and I will trust them. I will use the Bible as my guide and I will trust You, for Your Word is “yea and amen”. Speak to me Holy Spirit and reveal to me the truth of Your Word, that I might live in obedience. My desire is to reflect Christ, my Saviour, and by so doing share your love with all, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
