Understanding God’s Love!

“O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You…I have declared to them Your name…that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

 John 17:25-26 (NKJV)

Jesus makes a profound declaration about the depth of God’s love for us in the Scripture John 17:25-26. He desires for us to know our heavenly Father’s great love. If you’re going to experience a healthy Christian life, you must know the deep love of God for all of us. As His children, God’s love is central to our identity in Him.  Acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice made for us by Jesus, we are grounded in the unconditional love of God.

There is nothing more powerful than the love that our heavenly Father has for us. It is a love so deep and wide that even Jesus Himself prayed for us to fully comprehend it. It’s a love so sincere that Jesus wanted us to experience it. It is a love that surpasses all understanding, a love that is unconditional. His love can heal broken bodies, damaged minds, and wounded hearts, transform lives, and set free those held captive by shame and iniquities.

Jesus’ prayer should remind us that we are not alone in our faith journey. This prayer perfectly echoes that we have a Saviour Who is interceding on our behalf, anchored in love. Just like we look to our earthly father for guidance and protection, He is a beacon of hope that, irrespective of what we may have to face, we can always find strength in His awe-inspiring love. Jesus prayed for you to know His Father and have Him within you.

Be reassured that God loves us simply because He is LOVE. There is no condition attached to His love. In Luke 15:11-32, the father ran out to meet his son before anything had ever been set right. He didn’t know his son was there to apologise. He didn’t care about that; all he wanted was to love his child. Our heavenly Father feels that way about us. He simply longs to love you just where you are, just as you are. His desire is to fill you with love.

May we open our hearts and allow God’s divine love, unity, and grace to settle in our lives as believers. As we embrace this love, we will manifest it in our lives, which will not only fulfil Jesus’ prayer but also allow us to show God’s presence in the world.

Prayer

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for praying for us, for continuously interceding for us. Forgive our sins and help us, oh Lord, to take the time to receive the depth of Your love for us today. We choose to allow Your love to heal us, transform us, free us, and lead us to the abundant life You longed to give us. We receive Your presence and rest in your love, Oh God. This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
