Unforgiveness Creates Disorder and Discrimination

Unforgiveness Creates Disorder and Discrimination

John 3:16 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten  Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 (KJV)

Beloved, when unforgiveness is magnified to widespread levels, it becomes a demonic principality that can destroy the social fabric of a nation, threatening national security and economic stability. Unforgiveness can breed racial discrimination and prejudice, social injustices, hate crimes, and social disorder within a home and nation. In this kind of environment, disorder and discrimination can become partners against well-meaning people.

Political leaders, the world over, tend to play the race card within ethnic enclaves and/or pander to certain tribes, classes, and castes of people by fanning into flames the embers of unforgiveness that may fuel support and success for their elections. It must be noted that those who are steeped in unforgiveness are blindsided by hate. As such, it does not matter what workable plans and programmes are presented; it was birthed out of a dark place by aspiring leaders.

Many leaders, after gaining success at the polls, pledge an oath while holding the Holy Bible or a religious book of their choice and make an oath to serve truthfully the people of their land or under their charge ‘without fear or favour, affection or ill-will. Some use the words “acting rightfully and impartially for the sake of the citizens and society,” and after they assume office, they forget the oath of equitable distribution of national resources and other programmes. They commence cutting the pie of economic wealth in large proportions for their political constituents and leaving crumbs for those who did not vote for them.

Brethren, we are first and foremost Kingdom citizens. This takes precedence over us being citizens of Guyana or any country. We have a mandate at both an individual and collective level to forgive those who may have trespassed against us (Matthew 6:12-14) and love anyone and everyone despite their racial composition, sex, religious convictions, and political affiliations, for love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). As Saints of God, let us pray and work assiduously to break down the walls of division in our countries. For Guyana, let’s ensure our Motto of One people, One Nation, and One destiny does not become an empty mantra.
