“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…”
Matthew 5:11-12 (NIV)
Jesus tells us in His Word to forgive those that sin against us, not seven times, but seventy times seven – Matthew 18: 21-22 (NIV). He taught, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6: 14 – NIV). Some of us may assume that if you forgive someone who offends you, this means that you must continue that relationship as though that offence never happened. God never commanded us to keep trusting those who violate our trust, but he does command that we forgive every time, even when it is not asked.
Dr Cindy Trim, author of the book, ‘The Rules of Engagement for Overcoming Your Past’, alluded to her experience of feeling like a hypocrite in her first few attempts to release blessings upon people who hurt her. However, she rewired the natural impulse to seek vengeance for herself through repetition. She challenged those hurting to forgive repeatedly until we see that person and genuinely wish them well, thereby allowing the anger and pain that has burned in hearts to evaporate.
Beloved, Jesus nailed unforgiveness to the cross when He gave His life for our sins. If unforgiveness is not addressed, it eventually removes the presence of God from your life and creates an unholy portal to your soul for demonic forces to enter and, in due course, take possession of your life. Some people intent on seeking revenge for the transgression committed upon their person visit satanic emissaries involved in occult practices to conjure spells and incantations to harm and/or kill their enemies. Sadly, they don’t realise that the rituals they have to do and the divination fee they have to pay are designed to mortgage their souls and that of their loved ones.
Friends, if you have unforgiveness in your heart that led you to be involved in iniquity to seek justice, pray for forgiveness.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, by a decision of my will, I forgive all who have harmed me or wronged me – just as I want You to forgive me. I forgive [name the person (s)]. I renounce all contact with the occult and anything satanic. I cancel every demonic covenant ever made. I pray that You cleanse me from all unrighteousness and deliver me from every sin and evil habit; in Jesus’s name, I ask Thee, Amen.
