Unshakeable Love and Peace

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken… ” says the Lord…” – Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)

Life is full of uncertainties. We establish our plans by setting some deadlines, but we can all testify that things don’t always turn out the way we anticipate. Things we once thought were stable can be shaken. For example, many marriages seem unshakable at first, but over the years, those same marriages crumble and fall apart, leaving, in some instances, several broken persons.

Mountains and hills symbolise strength and permanence, yet even they can be removed. The trials of life can sometimes crush a person to the point that they lose their strength and courage to go on. In Isaiah 54:10, however, God assures us that His love and peace remain unshaken: “…yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken…”. His Love is certain.

God’s love is unconditional. It is not based on our circumstances or performance and cannot be diminished by trials. Even when we feel abandoned, God’s love stands firm (Romans 8:38-39). Isaiah 54:10 also shows us that God’s steadfast love is inextricably bound with peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and this peace remains with us even in life’s storms (Philippians 4:7).

We are also reminded of God’s compassionate assurance: “…says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” God’s compassion means He sees our struggles and cares deeply (Lamentations 3:22-23). God does not change, and neither do His promises (Hebrews 13:8). We can trust Him even when everything around us is uncertain.

As children of God, we must learn to live in His ‘unshakeable love and peace.’ To do that, we must:

• Trust in God’s promises — hold onto His Word in difficult times.

• Pray for peace — invite God’s peace into your heart daily.

• Walk in faith — live confidently, knowing that God’s love never wavers.

• Encourage others — share the assurance of God’s love and peace with those struggling.

• Believe that God’s love and peace remain unmovable. (No matter what shakes the world around us).

• Rest in the truth that God is faithful, and His compassion sustains us.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your unshakeable love and everlasting peace. Help us to trust in Your promises and rest in Your compassion. Amen.
