“…In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 (NIV)
Are we victors, or are we victims? Are we proclaiming God’s Word? (This is a good indicator).
The reality in life is that we are victims first, and then we become victors.
Rewardingly, we are born to overcome. Born in sin, Christ’s death brought us victory. The songwriter wrote, “Then I repented of my sins and won the victory.” In all situations, Christ intervenes as we cry out; the blind beggar cried out and received the victory of his sight (Luke 18:38-43). In another instance, John 5:5-9, Jesus reached out, and victory was received as the lame man was able to walk again.
Revelation 14:12 (GNT) says, “This calls for endurance on the part of God’s people, those who obey God’s commandments and are faithful to Jesus.” The 13th verse says, ‘Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: ‘Happy are those who from now on die in the service of the Lord!” “Yes indeed!” answers the Spirit, “They will enjoy rest from their hard work, because the results of their service go with them.”
So,
Victory comes with repentance
Victory comes with endurance and sacrifice
Victory comes with obedience
Prayer
Father God, we thank You for our victory because of Your death on the cross. Help us to be obedient to Your Word, to proclaim Your Word, to work for Thee, and to endure suffering for Your honour and glory. Help us to be brave and remember that You have defeated the world. We claim our victory in Jesus’ name. Amen.
