“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children. And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” – Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)
“Love never fails… – 1st Corinthians 13:8 (NIV).
According to the Bible, love is the ultimate power. It is patient, kind, selfless and enduring. God’s love overcomes fear, anxiety and insecurity, offering inner peace and joy. We know that: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 – NIV).
Yes, my brothers and sisters, the power of love is God’s limitless love, which is from everlasting to everlasting. This was demonstrated through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, compelling us as believers to walk in love, loving one another deeply, including our enemies, just as God loves us. Matthew 5:44 (NIV) says, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
Walking in love means obeying Jesus so that we may be recognised as God’s children. One way we can accomplish this is by showing love to our family, friends, neighbours, and strangers, even when they hurt us. Jesus was crucified for both the good and the evil. That is love! That is the epitome of walking in love!
Prayer
Father, we love You because You first loved us. Thank You for pouring Your love into our hearts through Your Holy Spirit, which You have given us. Lord, because You have shown us that You love and that love is the most excellent way, I choose to obey You by walking in love as Christ has loved me. This I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
