What have you done with Jesus?
John 3:16 (NKJV)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 (NKJV)
What do we do when someone gives us a gift? Well if it’s a good gift we both appreciate and cherish it, right? If it’s something we need then we use it, value it and apply it to its given purpose.
The Scripture above highlights that over two thousand years ago God sent His Son Jesus as a gift for us to pay the penalty for sin that we couldn’t pay. Understand that Jesus didn’t have to do it, but He chose to because He loves us with an everlasting love.
Jesus came for everyone from everywhere, His love did not discriminate. He came for people of all colours, shapes, cultures and kind. He came for the depressed, happy and indifferent. His love is extended to all mankind.
He did it so that we can regain access to God so that if we choose then we could be free from the chains of sin and darkness. He did it so that we could choose to turn away from our sins, regardless of how terrible those are. Once we commit to Jesus we are no longer defined by our sins but we are reborn in light and righteousness.
Let us then go back to the question asked, ‘What have you done with Jesus?’ One could ask in return, what should I do with Jesus? If that is your question, the answer is that we do with Jesus what He told us to (1) Love Him by obeying His word (John 14:15) (2) Follow Him and He will make you into what you were created to be (Matthew 4:19) (3) Accept Him as Lord and Saviour of your life (Revelation 3:20), Trust Him to solve your problems and fix your life (1 Peter5:7).
So the next time you are asked, ‘What have you done with Jesus?’ I trust you will have an answer.
