“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?’ And God said, ‘I will be with you…” — Exodus 3:11–12 (NIV)
When God called Moses, He didn’t choose a confident, eloquent leader — He chose a man who doubted himself. Moses stood before the burning bush with every reason why he shouldn’t fulfil God’s command: his past failures, his fear, his lack of skill.
But God’s response was not to reassure Moses of his ability. Instead, God gave him a greater truth: “I will be with you.”
This is the heart of every divine calling — the presence of God. What makes a calling possible is not who we are or what we can do, but who walks with us. When we step into God’s call, we don’t go alone. His Spirit empowers, guides, and sustains us through every challenge.
Many of us, like Moses, wrestle with feelings of inadequacy. We look at the task before us and wonder, “Who am I?” However, the truth is that God often calls those who feel least qualified so that His power may be made known through their weakness. He transforms reluctance into confidence and fear into faith.
When the call feels too big, remember that God’s strength is made perfect in your weakness. Your insecurities don’t disqualify you; they become the very place where His glory shines brightest. All God asks is your willingness to take the next step.
The same God who sent Moses before Pharaoh is the same God who sends and equips you today. The mission may feel impossible, but His promise remains unshakable — “I will be with you.”
Prayer
Lord, I confess that sometimes Your call feels beyond my strength. Help me to trust Your promise more than my fears. Remind me that I never walk alone, and that Your power works through my weakness. Use my life to accomplish Your purpose and to bring You glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
