When you Give It; You Earn It

Honour( esteem, value as precious) YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER (and be respectful to them) – this is the first commandment with a promise –

Ephesians 6:2 (AMP)

The more I meditate on the Word of God, I find Truth for everyday living. I have personal evidence that shows that it is imperative to give honour and respect to your parents. It is evident that when you give respect, you will earn respect. This does not only apply to the family, but to every area of our lives in which we are personally involved.

I can testify of families that have failed to maintain unity, love and respect as a result of disobedience to this Truth from God’s Word. There are children from one family that I know who find it difficult to maintain marriage vows and a bond among family members. When the cause was carefully investigated, the first generation had failed to honour their parents and maintain integrity within the home. This is sad, but it shows that a curse was definitely released. It is evident from the case in-study that three siblings from this family are sharing the same fate.

The first commandment with a promise is not to be taken lightly. In this instance, the first and second generations are being affected. God’s grace is sufficient to help, even if parents may not have done everything right. It is imperative to obey God’s Word and do the right thing. I wish to add that the one sibling who obeyed God’s Word escaped the curse. His family is an example of God’s grace; a shining example for his siblings to see. The curse can be broken if the sibling who escaped intercedes and releases a blessing on the generations that will follow.

Obedience surely brings blessings!

Prayer

Thank You Jesus for the example that You show to us, Your children. You model to us the love that You have for God, the Father, and reveal to us that He loves You in return. I pray, God, that love will reign in families and cause children and parents to love unconditionally.

And Lord, help us to build strong families that would produce strong communities and nations. Thank You for Your goodness and mercy that You show us daily. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
