The first night of this year’s Women’s Investment Webinar hosted by the First Assembly of God Wortmanville’s Women’s Ministry Department went off with a bang as it successfully began to address the overall theme ‘Reclaiming Your Inheritance’.

Following a resounding welcome from the Women’s Ministries President, Sis Hazel Jackman, and stirring opening remarks from Elder Angela Massiah, the first night’s presentation was made by Minister Shevone Corbin. Minister Corbin presented specifically on reclaiming one’s legacy. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Minister Corbin managed to deliver a wholistic view on how significant a woman’s contribution is to the world.

With references to the scripture text Numbers 27:7 being echoed throughout the night, the presenter proposed a strategy which revolved around the three major points of Mindset, Position, and Community.

In the aforementioned Bible text, Zelophehad’s daughters, Mahlah, Milcah, Hoglah, Noah, and Tirzah, had a renewed mindset which encouraged them to realise that there needed to be a change that looked beyond what was the norm. Minister Corbin mentioned that it is necessary for women to learn to lead in chaotic, unfavourable, and unlikely situations, think outside the box and be innovative to bring about a difference in their sphere of influence.

Secondly, it is important that women position themselves to benefit from an inheritance; therefore they must be courageous and have faith. With the inheritance, there must be a vision and a plan which follows. Also, these visions and plans must be flexible, in tune with purpose, and able to adapt to any situation while still fulfilling the overall purpose.

“As women, we need to assess the skills we have and determine if we need new ones… In today’s fast-paced world, agility is very important. When the pandemic hit, many persons had to shift from serving in a restaurant to doing take-out. So, you have to know how you can quickly convert your business to suit the current demand,” Minister Corbin explained.

The third part of the strategy focuses on community and highlights the need to have a good support system, one where women can be empowered, positively mentored, and shaped into change agents. Zelophehad’s daughter’s actions impacted generations and women are therefore encouraged to be generational thinkers.

According to Minister Corbin, many women may not have benefited from an inheritance but this is the time to start one. “The right mindset is the legacy,” she said, as she reassured that legacy is not materialistic but rather a vision that can outlive generations.

The Women’s Investment Webinar 2021 is slated for October 22-24 and will draw expertise from all facets of business and financial management while dividing the Word of God, encouraging women to do as the theme suggests. The remaining nights promise to provide patrons with an all-around insight into how women can reclaim their place in society, make their mark, create an inheritance and sustainable wealth while building shalom communities. The event is being streamed live via the First Assembly of God Wortmanville Facebook and YouTube Pages.
