“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” – Luke 12:25 (NIV)
There are powerful benefits when we pray to God, our heavenly Father. We are edified, we mature spiritually, and things positively change.
You may have been praying very long for a particular situation, and you may be in a pit currently or in a situation that seems hopeless. Whatever the problem is, know that God hears, and He will answer. The Psalmist said, “I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4 – NIV). This, too, can be our prayer. Be encouraged to continue in prayer. Pray without ceasing as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 admonishes us.
In Luke 18:1-8 Jesus showed His disciples by narrating a parable of why they should always pray and not give up. The parable was about a widow who requested justice and a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. As the widow requested justice, the judge refused, but that did not stop her; she continued to make her request known. Eventually, the unjust judge gave in because of her repeated pleas. Jesus, in His pointe finale, said, “And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones who cry out to Him day and night…?” (Verse 7).
Brethren, our God is a just God. He releases His power when we pray. Moreover, the enemy is defeated when we pray; miracles happen when we pray, and ‘mountains’ become ‘plains’ when we pray. Remember, however, to pray according to His will. 1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV) says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
Do not worry; do not give up, but take time to pray.
