Live Anchored, Lead with Truth

“God is not human… that he should change his mind.” – Numbers 23:19 (ESV)

In today’s world, where conflict, poverty, and political agendas dominate headlines,  believers are constantly challenged to stand firm in their faith. The concept of the  Overton Window – a political theory describing the range of ideas considered acceptable in public discourse – highlights how societal norms shift over time. What is legal, taught in schools, or accepted in culture today may not be tomorrow. This fluidity can pressure Christians to compromise their values.

Yet, Scripture reminds us that God’s truth is unchanging. In Matthew 5:17-20, Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. He emphasizes that God’s  Law is more enduring than the stars and the earth. Similarly, Numbers 23:19 affirms that God does not lie or change His mind. These verses anchor us in the reality that while culture shifts, the Kingdom of God remains constant.

A powerful modern example of living this truth is Stephen Curry, the NBA superstar.  Despite immense fame and commercial pressure, Curry has consistently branded his career with his faith in Jesus. From writing Bible verses like Philippians 4:13 on his sneakers to openly sharing his testimony, Curry has never shied away from proclaiming his identity as a child of God. He once said, “I know why I play the game, and it’s not for the fame or the accolades. It’s to be a witness for Christ.” Even when major brands hesitated to align with his faith-based messaging, Curry stood firm, choosing partnerships that respected his values.

Today, God wants to search out your response as a Kingdom citizen. Question: “Will you live anchored in the Word?” I pray that Scripture, not shifting cultural norms, will be your guide. May God’s Word help discern truth and strengthen your conviction in the decisions you are making, as they concern eternity.

Question: “Will you lead with grace and truth?” I pray that, like Jesus, you will engage culture with compassion and clarity. May God help you speak truth boldly, but always with love, reflecting the heart of the Kingdom.
