“…we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” – Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)
Don’t allow what you can’t do to interfere with what you can do.
Former boxing manager Cus D’Amato said, “The hero and the coward both feel the same fear, but the hero uses his fear and projects it onto his opponent, while the coward runs. It’s the same fear; it’s what you do with it that matters.”
Brothers and sisters, most negative emotions can be turned into something positive to help us move forward in life. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear…” (timidity). Are you afraid of poverty? Convert it into a work ethic. Are you afraid of greediness? Convert it into generosity. Are you afraid of rejection? Convert it into the ability to connect with people. Are you afraid of insignificance? Convert it to the service of others. Channel your fear positively!
Economist Roger Babson remarked, “If things go wrong, don’t go with them.” Instead, seek a new way to do it. You can turn your life around by taking the thing that once caused fear and using that energy to do something worthwhile, with the help of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Note: Peter feared and denied Jesus three times, but later became bold after receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). Gideon, in Judges 6, was fearful and hiding from the enemy, but God addressed Him as a “mighty man of valour. We all have confidence inside of us; use it!
There are many things in life we cannot control, and there’s no good reason to worry about those things. Instead, become a problem solver. How? By focusing on the things we can control. This starts with our attitude. Remember, what happens to you isn’t nearly as important as what happens in you. Don’t fear the future, prepare for it!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for assuring us that You have purposeful plans for our future, that will bring good out of all circumstances and offer new mercies daily according to the Scriptures. Lord, help us to be diligent in our walk with You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
