View Your Assignment Through Heaven’s Lens

“… I chose you and appointed you…” – John 15:16 (NIV)

The things of God are eternal. They are not confined to a single Sunday on the church calendar. What we often call Palm Sunday reflects a moment rooted far deeper in God’s eternal purposes — a day associated with divine selection and preparation: Jesus entered Jerusalem. This moment was not symbolic alone; it revealed how heaven views purpose, value, and assignment.

Jesus did not arrive on a warhorse, but on a donkey. In an instant, He transformed its value — from a humble beast of burden into a vessel carrying the King. Matthew 21:2-3 (NIV) captures the assignment:

“…Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.  If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”

What seemed ordinary became extraordinary because Jesus chose it. Heaven’s lens changed everything. You are ‘found and untied’ for Kingdom assignment!

God is in the business of creating value. In John 15:16, He called us to bear fruit that will last – regenerative, perpetual value. In Genesis, even the serpent was part of God’s redemptive narrative (Genesis 3:14-15). Nothing escapes His sovereignty. John 1:1-3 reminds us that Jesus was with God in the beginning, creating all things. He understands purpose from origin to fulfillment — and He knows how to elevate what already exists. In this moment, can you see your value through His lens?

Years ago, I hired an accountant from Tanzania with a profile higher than the role. I was happy he made it, but concerned we would limit his potential. A year later, a senior role opened, but funding cuts limited our hiring and narrowed the candidate pool. God’s timing positioned him as the standout and the appointed choice for promotion. Heaven saw more in him than his title revealed and quietly positioned him toward his true value.

When we view our assignment through Heaven’s lens, we realise that nothing is wasted — not preparation, not waiting, not obscurity. Heaven knows your value!

Prayer

Lord, help me view my assignment through heaven’s lens. Teach me to trust Your positioning and timing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
