“Be still and know that I am God…” – Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
In this world, where there is so much noise and activity, it can be very hard to see the silent manifestation of God. In our minds, we have come to expect God to show up with some sort of big deal. The interesting thing about God is that He makes His presence known in varying and unassuming ways.
In 1st Kings 19, Elijah experienced a mighty wind, an earthquake, and fire. But none of these things manifested the presence of God. The presence of God was manifested by “a still small voice” (1st Kings 19:12). This is how God made His presence known to Elijah. This is how God has made His presence known to me lately, too. He is omnipresent even in our everyday experiences.
He walks with us during the morning solitude, in our day-to-day activities, and in the quietness of prayers. The Lord offers us comfort in times of weariness, guidance when we feel lost, and peace amidst heaviness in our hearts.
The Lord assured His followers that, “…I am with you always, even unto the end of the world…” (Matthew 28:20, KJV). This gives us the assurance that we do not have to feel lonely at any point because we are always accompanied by Him. He works in our lives.
Therefore, make time today to be alone and listen to the voice of God. Take time away from the noise and activities surrounding you. You will realise that God has been there in your life through all those little instances.
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for Your presence in my life in all the quietness I experience. Open my ears to hear Your voice in this world of hustle and bustle. Give me confidence in Your name to trust You and enjoy peace amidst all. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
