“Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” – Romans 2:4 (NLT)
A little kindness goes a long way.
As for God, His kindness is simply wonderful. His kindness translates into great patience towards us. Human beings can be very wayward and sinful, but God’s kindness is intended to turn people from their sins.
Though people’s wicked actions deserve great punishment, God’s kindness gives them time to repent. Time is something many people take for granted, but even the very time that God has given to us is a demonstration of His kindness.
What a wonderful example God has given to us! Kindness should simply be a part of who we are. If then, we have received such kindness from God, we in turn must give it. People may not always do right by us, but just like our Heavenly Father, we can extend kindness.
Kindness needs no knowledge. Whether or not we are familiar with people or their circumstances, let us endeavour to show kindness. Everyone is going through something, so let’s be kind. Warmth, hospitality, assistance, listening ears, pleasant words or a simple smile can be acts of kindness that can transform a life.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop
Let us therefore seek to be kind one to another for the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach us Your kindness and help us to extend such kindness to one another. May our kindness not be restricted by what we think people deserve, but be freely expressed for the world to see Jesus glorified. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
