“Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.” – Psalm 36:5 (NKJV)
Jesus’ disciples were alone in the boat when a boisterous wind suddenly arose, creating challenges for them. Fear overtook their hearts. Then Jesus came walking on the water. This was unexpected and created greater fear for they now thought they were seeing ghosts. He, however, called out to them, “Be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid.“ He entered the boat, and peace came immediately; the wind ceased. (Matthew 14:25-33).
No matter what the challenges are or how difficult the situation is, once Jesus enters, peace comes. He is always in control. All He asks from us is to remain faithful and to trust in Him to bring us through.
In 2nd Kings 6, Elisha’s servant looked out the window and saw the army of the King of Aram surrounding the city. Fear gripped him, but Elisha, who knew that God was in control, told him not to be afraid, for there were more on their side than on King Aram’s (Verse 16).
Fear will always cause us to lose focus, but we only need to remember that God has told us: He has not given us a spirit of fear (2nd Timothy 1:7), and so we need to trust Him. Friends, if God has done one miracle, as he did with Elisha and his servant, He can do it again. His promises are sure. We can depend on His Faithful Word. He is always available to guide us through our difficulties. You can reach out to Him today.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. Help me never to waver but to keep trusting Your promises. You are God, and my confidence is in You; You are always in control! This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
