“Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?” – Matthew 6:26 (CSB)
When we consider the birds, we see that they don’t worry about their tomorrow. They move with confidence each day, knowing they will have what they need because God, who created them, takes care of them. Early in the mornings, they sing their praises for a new day. They do not sound worried at all! And so should we, because we are made in the image of God, God our Father will see that all our needs are met.
Despite how things seem in your life, it is important that you know how valuable you are to God our Father. If He takes care of the birds of the sky, how much more will He take care of you? He will not forsake you or leave you alone, but He will provide as He does for the birds. God has given you the keys to success and peace: do not worry about your life, because He is in control of everything. Give all your cares over to Him.
Our value is not in the things we desire or need, but in how God sees us. He says we are worth more than the birds. Jesus directs us to what is pertinent in our lives, and that is to seek His Kingdom first and His righteousness. This opens a new reality for us, revealing who we are. We are His children. Romans 8:17 (KJV) tells us, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ…” There is no need to worry; our Father is in control. Let us allow Him to work out our situations and take care of us. We are worth more than the birds of the air.
Psalm 139:16 reminds us that His eyes saw us when we were formless and all our days were planned before a single one began. We can rest assured that God our Father is in control of every aspect of our lives. It may not seem so, but remember that He already planned our lives, so surrender to Him. He’s got us!
