“…the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness…” – John 1:1 (NLT)
Everyone likes a good word. It sets us at ease, makes us feel loved, brings confidence, comfort, joy, and hope. It is as though this good word sends a signal to our heart saying, “Everything is going to be ok.”
The Word that John 1:14 talks about is more than a verbal message. This Word is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. John testifies that Jesus is full of love and faithfulness that never fails. This Word is so marvelous to comprehend, yet this Word became human like us and made His home among us. The constant, never-leaving, never-forsaking, ever-loving and ever- faithful Word, Jesus Christ our Lord, is here among us. God knows we need this Word to keep us going. Because Jesus is the eternal Word, His presence is not seasonal or conditional. He stands with His people in every circumstance: unchanging in character, unwavering in commitment.
Every day, we face all that life has to offer, whether good or bad. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word for all and for all time. Through His unfailing love and faithfulness, everything will be okay. He cannot deny Himself; our security rests in His character. He loves to the end, and He keeps His people by the power of His unchanging Word.
Prayer
Lord God, in a world where we are seeking a good word, I thank You for revealing Your Son, Jesus Christ, as the Word. May we always feel His unfailing love and faithfulness as He dwells among us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
