“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me…” – Psalm 138:8 (NKJV)
Hannah was a woman scorned and mocked, but loved by her husband. No one understood her deep pain of childlessness but God. She felt insufficient and broken. But even in her situation, she never took her eyes off her God — Jehovah Roi — Who looked down and saw her despair. Who would have thought that out of Hannah’s pain, she would have birthed a son whom God would use mightily?
Many times, in our situations, we do not see the bigger picture or understand what God is doing. In these moments, we need to be still (Psalm 46:10). Hannah’s trust in God caused her to be wrongly scolded by the priest, who assumed she was drunk as she sought God in her darkest hour of brokenness and despair. But she did not recoil from pouring her soul out in anguish and grief. Her faith and vow to the Lord brought the declaration by Priest Eli, “…may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of Him.” (1 Samuel 1:17 – NKJV).
As wives and mothers, God intricately weaves our lives for His divine will to be fulfilled. The trials and tribulations we experience are tools used to hone and fashion us into vessels of honour for His glory. God perfected that which concerned Him in Hannah, and He can do the same for you. Just as He heard Hannah, Elohim Shama hears your every cry, too.
Hannah’s account is an example for women today who are experiencing the same pain. The same God Who intervened for her is still delivering, healing, and providing. Hannah later returned rejoicing in the God of her salvation; she had moved from brokenness to a moulded vessel of hope, joy, and peace. She was clothed with gladness (Psalm 30:11).
Is anything too hard for God? (Jeremiah 32:27).
When we examine God’s promises to the women in the Bible, we do not see God forsaking them. He lovingly encourages them and states what He will do. From Sarah (Genesis 18:14) to Rachel (Genesis 30:17) to Elizabeth (Luke 1:24-25), and now you, too, can receive His promise.
Believe it!
