Bold Faith

“So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favour in his sight…Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.” – Esther 5:2 (NKJV)

Many years ago, I was unemployed and desperately in need of a job. So, as a trained teacher, I got the directory and made a few calls to some private schools – I only got through to one. I told the Lord that ‘I am going to call and trust You’ (Proverbs 3:5) to do the unexpected. By ten o’clock that morning, I was employed, glory be to God.

All I had was just a little faith as a mustard seed, as was mentioned in Luke 17:6. I did not have enough money to purchase lunch that day, but I ate. I saw God do extraordinary things in the days that followed.

Esther walked into the king’s court, not knowing whether she would come out alive, because it was against the law to enter without being summoned (Esther 4-5). But she trusted God; she knew her situation was bigger than her life.

Often, we are unwilling to go the extra mile, but through it all, if we would just trust God in the process, He would part our ‘red seas,’ lift up a standard for us, dismantle strongholds, and the walls of Jericho in our lives. He would provide enough flour in our cupboards to feed our families and cause barren wombs to grow with life, but we must trust in Him.

Esther found favour in the sight of the king, and was told she could have up to half of the kingdom if she so desired; and the king was just a man. What about God, who is far greater? Her people were saved – the wicked perpetrator, annihilated with his own instrument. What can you not trust God with today?

Prayer

Father God, I come to You by faith, placing this situation [name it] into Your hands. Just as You delivered Your people from Pharaoh, parted the Red Sea, and destroyed the walls of Jericho. I trust You to help me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
