We are Living Epistles – Part 2

“You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men”

2 Corinthians 3:2 (NKJV)

In our previous discussion of the text, we highlighted Apostle Paul as he rejoiced over the conversion of the Corinthian believers, which he had faithfully laboured for, as a testimony of his accomplishment by the grace of God.

“Known and read by all men,” Paul declared. The Corinthians were now known as believers in Christ, leaving their pagan gods behind. They had converted to Christianity. Their lives were now a reflection of Christian doctrines because of Apostle Paul’s teaching by the Holy Spirit. There is not so powerful a sermon in the world, as a constant Christian life: the Christian life is the most prominent religious ‘book’ the world reads. Remember, the eyes of the world absorb more than the ears.

Saint Ignatius wrote, “Give unbelievers the chance of believing through you. Considered yourself employed by God, your lives, the form of language in which He addresses them. Be mild when they are angry; humble when they are haughty; to their blasphemy, propose prayer without ceasing; to their inconsistency, a steadfast adherence to your faith.”

Let the words of the Apostle Paul be always before us, “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” Today, let us pledge to showcase Christ to the world through our lives.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, we are Your light in this world of darkness. Help us therefore to shine, that men, women, boys, and girls, would see You, through our lives as living epistles and accept You, Jesus, as their Lord and Saviour, in Jesus’s name. Amen.
